From our President & CEO José Martinez: “Kaye Hartmann, VP of Resource Development, and I had the opportunity to attend the WISCAP Press Conference at the Wisconsin State Capitol, along with several other WISCAP partners, including ADVOCAP, CAP Services, NEWCAP, CAI, and CACSCW, to name a few.We had the honor of being part of the WISCAP Awards presentation to Rep. Robyn Vining, who received the Gaylord Nelson Award, and Rep. Scott Allen, recipient of the William Steiger Award. Their outstanding leadership and contributions in advocating for and promoting policy change that best support the needs of individuals, families, and children to help them thrive were celebrated. We were all inspired by their accomplishments and dedication to providing outstanding support to Community Action and low-income families, combating poverty, and promoting social and economic justice in Wisconsin.In addition, a press conference was held by State Sen. Jeff Smith and State Rep. Anne Rowe, announcing the WI Opportunity Act, a significant initiative aimed at combating economic insecurity. The Act, a comprehensive blueprint that targets housing, transportation, employment, and business development training, among other programs, has the potential to make a substantial impact. We applaud Sen. Smith and State Rep. Rowe for their leadership in authoring the Bill as it makes its way for consideration and action.”

“I had the pleasure of attending the Asian Moon Festival & Business Excellence Celebration, a vibrant event sponsored by the WI Chinese Chamber of Commerce. The festival showcased a variety of resources through tables, silent auctions, and cultural performances featuring live traditional artists. The Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra brought a unique charm to the event with its artistically vibrant and innovative music.
I want to extend my heartfelt appreciation to Ziming Wu, CEO of WCCC, and Tone Ly, President of the WCCC Board, for their ongoing efforts in hosting this event for the third consecutive year.
A special thank you to Lo Neng Kiatoukaysy, Executive Director of the Hmong American Friendship Association, and Lang Xiong, Community Advocate, for making this event truly memorable.
It was especially great to see our board member, Don Cohen, at the event as he accepted the Community Partner Award on behalf of Community Outreach. They are an invaluable partner with a significant impact on our community.” @wccc_org

This week, our National Farmworker Jobs Program (NFJP) representatives from Illinois, Missouri, and Wisconsin attended the Association of Farmworker Opportunity Programs (AFOP) 2025 Annual Conference in Cincinnati. It was a great chance to connect with our peers from other agencies and to share best practices.
