A note from our President & CEO, José Martinez:"The 14th Annual Latino Family Expo & Festival, presented by El Conquistador Latino Newspaper, took place on Sunday, October 26, 2025. It was a vibrant event where I had the chance to meet NFL Football Hall of Famer LeRoy Butler, who inspires with his community service. The Health Fair portion offered free flu shots from Walgreens and wellness checks by Anthem.
Various community organizations participated, offering information and fun trick-or-treating opportunities. I enjoyed visiting the booths, connecting with UMOS employees, and meeting Telemundo’s Miguel Ramirez.Special thanks to Congresswoman Gwen Moore, State Representative Ortiz Velez, and Common Council President Jose Perez for their support. Shoutout to Perfecto Rivera, Dr. Nelson Soler, Jacqueline Zeledon, Marty Calderon, Dulce Sierra, and fellow UMOS Board Members Nedda Avila and Rita Saavedra.
Finally, a big thank you to Victor Huyke and Carmen Lerma for organizing such a fantastic event!” @official_leroybutler

The @froedtert.mcw Mobile Unit is at UMOS today until 3 p.m. Come on over for free blood pressure checks, glucose testing, and get access to resources and referrals to medical providers.

What a day on Friday for UMOS! We received the 2025 Ohtli Award from the Mexican Government, and honored so many at our annual corporation awards and luncheon. Among the many recipients included our corporate sponsor of the year, Sam's Club; our employer of the year, Potawatomi Hotel & Casino; our corporate citizen of the year, Target; and our UMOS employee of the year, Thomas Perry. We also recognized the milestones of years of service among our own staff ... and participated in a day full of insightful team building. Too many guests and speakers to acknowledge all in just one post, but we appreciate the kind words from County Executive David Crowley, Mayor Cavalier Johnson, Representative Sylvia Ortiz-Velez and more! Here are just a few of the new memories we built!

Kicking off the UMOS staff training and corporate luncheon with a presidential address from our CEO, José Martinez.

So many applicants came out today to check out the outstanding opportunities to become correctional officers with Milwaukee County. They interviewed on the spot, and qualified applicants left with a conditional job offer.

It's a productive week, as UMOS National Farmworker Jobs Program (NFJP) staff from Illinois, Missouri, and Wisconsin come together for training on new policies from (DOL) Department of Labor and workshop best practices. Did you know that UMOS has been providing NFJP services for 60 years? We make major impacts in both youth and adults with career services, training, youth services, housing, and financial assistance.
