The Purple Dress Event: A Night to Raise Awareness and Support for Domestic Violence Survivors

UMOS Latina Resource Center is proud to announce The Purple Dress Event, an impactful evening dedicated to raising awareness and funds for domestic violence survivors.

The Purple Dress Event will feature a powerful combination of moving testimonials, live performances, and sampling of appetizers and desserts by local restaurants. All proceeds will directly the UMOS Latina Resource Center, which supports victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and human trafficking in our community and state.

This special event will take place on January 30, 2025, at Mitchell Street Arts, 710 W Historic Mitchell St, Milwaukee, WI 53204 starting at 6:00pm-9:00pm.

UMOS Latina Resource Center Impact in the lives of survivors:

• 516 victims of domestic violence received advocacy and/or supportive services.
• Responded to 256 crisis calls from victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, hospitals and law enforcement
• 600 middle school youth completed Raices Healthy Youth Initiative & Safe Dates: Teen Dating Violence Prevention Program
• 830 middle and high school Latino youth were provided with identifying abusive behaviors and healthy relationships information through community outreach and school presentations
• 600 children were provided with social emotional support and education through the Mi Arco Iris Education Program and Mi Arco Iris Children Who Witness Domestic Violence Program
• 80 potential victims of labor and/or sex trafficking were identified and were provided with comprehensive advocacy supportive services and resources by the UMOS Wisconsin Regional Anti-Trafficking Program (WRAP).
