Food Security, Mental & Physical Health, Rental & Mortgage Assistance provided through CSBG funding
The Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) supports low-income individuals and families by addressing immediate needs while promoting long-term stability.
UMOS uses CSBG funds to provide rent or mortgage assistance, food security, and access to behavioral and physical health services in partnership with trusted community providers.

The Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) is a federal program that provides funding to help reduce poverty and promote self-sufficiency. UMOS uses CSBG funding to deliver essential services to low-income households in Milwaukee County, including food assistance, rental or mortgage assistance, and health-related programs.
Eligibility Requirements: Households must be at or below 125% of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL).

What services does UMOS provide through CSBG funding?
UMOS offers:
- Food Pantry Services – groceries, baby supplies, and pet food.
- Rental and Mortgage Assistance – financial support for housing stability up to $1,800 per household. If eligible, funds can be used for security deposits, eviction notices, late rent/mortgages, property taxes.
- Health Services – including free therapy and mental health support starting January 2026.

Food distribution is available at:

Hours: Monday–Friday, 1:00 p.m.–4:00 p.m.
Additional community-based locations will be announced through UMOS outreach and partner communications.
What items are included in food assistance?
Food boxes may include:
- Breakfast, lunch, and dinner staples (cereal, meats, frozen foods, canned goods, rice, pasta)
- Fresh fruits and vegetables
- Water, juices, and other essentials
- Diapers, baby food, household supplies
- Pet food for households with animals
Do I need to apply or meet income requirements?
Food pantry services are intended for low-income households. CSBG programs serve families at or below 125% of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL) according to household size.
