Other Programs and Services
In order for individuals to participate fully in program activities, they may need additional supports to address barriers which often prevent them from succeeding, or moving in the right direction. Fortunately, UMOS is able to assist individuals and families with many of these barriers, either directly or through referrals to other partner agencies. These include:
- Domestic Violence Services – are accessible through UMOS' Latina Resource Center.
- UMOS Southside Food Pantry – in collaboration with Hunger Task Force, serves eligible individuals and families living in zip codes: 53204, 53207 and 53215, and Wisconsin Works (W-2) participants also living in zip codes: 53110, 53217 and 53221. The Food Pantry is open to the public from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p
.m., Monday through Friday. - Noncustodial Parent Services – enable parents who have a child support responsibility to "self-enroll" in the Children First program which assists with employment, education and parenting skills development.
- Support Services – such as transportation assistance, one-time reimbursement of work-related clothing or equipment, and child care assistance may be available depending on program eligibility.
- Community Resources – address a multitude of barriers and needs, from mental health to housing issues. 211 IMPACT has the most up-to-date and comprehensive list of community resources.
- On-site Drop-in Child Care Center – looks after young children while their parents attend program-related appointments within the Job Center facility. Drop-in Child Care Center staff will watch children for up to a maximum of two hours.
