Employers
The Employment Services Unit (ESU) plays a critical role in the development of strategic relationships with employers and other community resources to ensure that the best jobs and wages are available to job seeker customers and to ensure employers have access to and hire the best candidates. Employment Consultants provide personalized service to employers and job seekers alike. These ESU staff are responsible for ensuring a wide variety of employment opportunities are available to job seekers and a selection of qualified candidates available for the employers to recruit, hire, and train.
The Employment Consultant staff analyze occupational job growth and new job creation data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics Industry & Occupational Projections for 1996-2006. This industry and occupational analysis provides insight into projected changes in employment and skill level requirements. UMOS also works with local employer committees in order to assess workforce needs, and provides ongoing support to assist employers in the recruitment and retention of their workforces.

UMOS also provides ongoing employer workshops. All workshops are customized to the employers’ specific needs, utilizing an Employer Needs Assessment. Experts in different topics and employment areas are asked to present and participate in problem-solving sessions. Teams of employers are guided in the development and practice of various techniques for maximizing the work potential of each job seeker.
