UMOS Experience Operating One-Stop Job Centers and Employment Programs
UMOS operates the two largest job centers in the state of Wisconsin. UMOS continues to receive national and international recognition for its innovation and performance in workforce development.
The UMOS Resource Center, within the One-Stop, has created an “outreach” approach which makes the environment user-friendly. The UMOS Resource Center has an array of comprehensive employment and training services available to job seekers and employers, based on their needs. The UMOS Resource Center is designed to:
- Help those who need work obtain a job
- Offer quality job opportunities to job seekers
- Meet employer needs for quality workers
- Integrate services for employers and job seekers
- Host monthly job seeker events, recruitments and job fairs
- Provide career counseling/resume preparation

JotNet Station
Touch-screen and internet search for jobs through the state’s JobNet database is available at both UMOS One-Stop Job Centers, as well as other job centers around the state. Jobs can be searched by geographic area and type of position. In some cases, applications are immediately available. The JobNet machines at UMOS Job Centers consistently record the highest number of job search users. Over 4,000 job seekers will use the UMOS Job Centers each month.

- Job Access Loan (JAL)
- Workforce Investment Act (WIA)
- Emergency Assistance (EA)
- Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA)
- Low-Income Housing Energy Assistance (LIHEAP)
- Children First (Job Center – Southeast Region, Job Center – Central Region)
