Through a number of government programs, UMOS offers many employment and training services to adults and youth. These programs include:
- Wisconsin Works (W-2) – serves low income custodial parents with minor children.
- W-2 Supplemental Security Income (SSI)/Social Security Disability Income (SSDI) Advocacy – serves W-2 eligible participants in the process of seeking SSI or SSDI approval.
- Workforce Investment Act (WIA) Adult Services – targets low income un/underemployed adults.
- FoodShare Employment and Training (FSET) – targets FoodShare recipients who wish to volunteer for employment-focused case management and other services.
- Children First – serves unemployed noncustodial parents who have child support obligations.
- UMOS Skill-building and Transitional Employment Program (U-STEP) – serves unemployed adults not eligible for unemployment insurance or W-2.
- Skills Enhancement Program (SEP) – serves low income individuals working at least 20 hours per week.
- Pathways to Responsible Fatherhood - offers employment placement and parenting education to non-custodial parents.
All of these programs provide employment-related case management and other services such as career exploration/planning, job search assistance, job development and placement, and job readiness workshops. Most of these programs also offer an education component and/or specific short-term job skills training opportunities.
Depending on the program, support services may also be available, including transportation assistance, one-time reimbursement of work-related clothing or equipment, child care assistance, or emergency food assistance.
