UMOS provides employment and training assistance for job seekers, as well as employers. UMOS staff provides guidance to job seekers for the ultimate goal of attaining long-term independence through gainful employment, while assisting the employer community with workforce development needs. Services include, but are not limited to: Assessment, Workshops, Pre-screening, Job Club, Community Service Jobs, Training, Targeted Job Fairs, Recruitments, Trial Jobs, Placement, Retention, and Job Advancement. Comprehensive services in these areas help to ensure that job seekers are fully prepared to make a positive impact in the workforce.

UMOS Ambassador Program

In a partnership with six community-based organizations, Potawatomi Community Foundation and Milwaukee alderpersons, UMOS launched a new Neighborhood Ambassadors Project. The summer pilot project will benefit the north and south sides of Milwaukee. The project will build valuable work experience and skill building opportunities for W-2 participants. The dual goals of the UMOS pilot project include increasing employment opportunities for low-income residents while improving safety, quality of life and access to city services for some of the city’s most distressed neighborhoods. The ambassadors will also serve as liaisons to local businesses. In addition, UMOS Employment Specialist will focus on finding job opportunities for the ambassadors in areas that could include, but not limited to, customer service, maintenance, unskilled construction, or opportunities in the hospitality industry.
