Community Resources Make a Difference in the Lives of UMOS Clients
The position of Community Liaison was implemented to assist clients with
resolving their immediate needs. The Community Liaison (CL) is responsible for
building community alliances and assisting clients by addressing and resolving
their immediate needs, such as but not limited to, shelter, clothing, drivers
license recovery, diapers, hygiene products, and food. The CL works with the
client to connect them to available resources in the community.
The CL is also responsible for informing clients and job seekers of the
available community resources and how to be pro active in order to obtain those
resources. The CL facilitates the Locating Community Resources workshop three
times a week. Clients learn what community resources are available, and how to
locate them. In 2007, a total of 1,088 clients were connected to community
resources to help them resolve their immediate needs.
