GED/HSED Testing

UMOS is an official GED/HSED Testing Center which provides testing services for HSED and GED tests. GED tests are offered in Spanish as well.

GED/HSED Eligibility

To earn a GED or HSED in Wisconsin, you must meet the following requirements:

• Age: You must prove that you are at least 18 years and six months old (18 ½) to take the GED tests, or the class with which you entered 9th grade must have graduated from high school. Under Wisconsin's Compulsory School Attendance Law, a 17-year-old may be permitted to enroll in a program that leads to an HSED and to begin taking the GED tests.
  
• Class Status: You are required to attend school until the end of the school term, quarter or semester of the school year in which you become 18 years of age. If you are not 18 ½ years old, you may still take the test if the class with whom you entered 9th grade has graduated from high school.
  
• Residency: You must be a legal resident of Wisconsin; you may be asked to prove residency.
  
• Application: You must complete a one-time GED/HSED Application form.
  
• You must pass all of the required five GED tests.

Generally, testing is weekly on the following days: Monday at 4:30 p.m., Friday at 9:00 a.m. and/or 1:30 p.m., and monthly on Saturday at 9:00 a.m. Additional testing dates may be scheduled as needed. For more information, call (414) 389-6285.

GED/HSED Testing Fees

The following fees apply:

HSED Test	$10
HSED Diploma (credential)	$15
GED Tests (Includes all five GED tests, one official transcript, and GED Certificate upon completion)	$70
Individual GED Test (Reading, Social Studies, Science, and Math test)	$15
Writing Test	$20
Re-test (Reading, Social Studies, Science, and Math test)	$10
Re-test Writing	$20
GED Certificate (credential)	$15
Additional Transcript	$5

UMOS accepts money orders ONLY payable to UMOS GED/HSED Testing Center. Fees must be paid prior to taking a test.

Test Day

Please be aware of the following requirements concerning Test Day.

1. Testers must have a photo ID and arrive at the testing center 15 minutes prior to the test.
2. Testers are not allowed to have purses, cell phones, backpacks, food, drink, or other personal items at their seats in the testing room.

Please be advised: Only three forms of the GED test in each subject area are available in a calendar year.
