Adult Basic Education ESL, GED
UMOS provides basic education to academically and economically disadvantaged adults and youth who desire to improve their basic education level and enhance their employment opportunities. Over 1,000 students were enrolled in Adult Basic Education, English as a second Language, Literacy and Spanish GED classes.
Significant educational services were provided to W-2, WIA-167 and WIA participants, as well as other underserved youth and adults in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Almost 54,000 instructional hours were delivered to students in the areas of basic education, GED preparation and English as a Second Language. In 2004, 42 students obtained their GED and four obtained their HSED.
Other highlights include:
- Four W-2 participants who obtained their GED graduated with honors.
- Seventy-four percent of participants who received 40-60 hours on instruction demonstrated significant gains
Based on a customer satisfaction survey, 94% of the students expressed satisfaction with the instructional assistance they received.
