The UMOS School Age Program is a state wide program that offers summer educational programming to children ages 6 to 12 years. This program targets at risk youth by providing core educational elements in math, science, writing, reading, arts, physical activities and other essential elements while students are in Wisconsin because of their family’s work in agriculture. In addition, students are also provided with nutritious meals and recreational activities offered in the community.

Field trips are scheduled in the local community, as well as trips to locations of interest. The School Age Program uses the portfoliobased thematic curriculum with theme units that promote academic enrichment activities, critical thinking and problem solving skills. The curriculum provides opportunities for positive learning of the arts, zoology, media, citizenship, endangered species and nutrition units.

The UMOS Child Development Division was awarded a Reading is Fundamental (RIF) grant. The RIF grant incorporated all the elements of project LEER thus ensuring resources for both children and parents.

UMOS collaborative efforts with the Department of Public Instruction (DPI) Migrant Education Program afforded migrant children an array of educational opportunities, such as educational resources, support staff, assessment of at risk children, Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS) exam preparations, curriculum implementation and tutorial services.
