Child Development Programs
UMOS Child Development Programs continue to move forward by adding to its
regime of services and refining its management systems to ensure quality
services are in its forefront of programming. Current UMOS Child Development
Program services include:
-
Migrant Daycare Program
-
School Age Program
-
Migrant and Seasonal Head Start Program
Collectively these programs provide valuable childcare services to children
between the ages of 6 weeks to 5.11 years of age throughout Wisconsin and
Missouri.
The UMOS Child Development Program continues to aim to provide quality
educational services which are both child-focused and family-centered. The
Migrant and Seasonal Head Start program philosophy and mission continues to
promote our core belief that parents act as the primary educators of their
children's lives. The program represents many ideas, thoughts, values and
traditions bound by a commitment to serve families, and strives to provide
comprehensive and high-quality services. Its philosophy is one of pragmatic
optimism in which staff efforts, parental support and feedback, and community
input and coordination can be blended to achieve an acknowledged model program.
UMOS continues to operate both a Migrant and Seasonal Head Start Program through
Center Based Program option and Family Home Provider care through a Migrant Day
Care (MDC) Program in the State of Wisconsin. UMOS has made consorted efforts
to offer the program model most advantageous and resourceful for the migrant
families. In 2007, UMOS provided childcare services to 894 migrant children and
their families through all program options and funding sources.
UMOS has been recognized by the Office of Head Start as a "Program of
Excellence" by earning a Gold Certificate of Excellence during the last federal
review. Over the past four federal program reviews, UMOS has earned the
distinguished honor of being one of the few head start programs to have no
areas of non-compliance.
